Online casinos regulations needed
for europe
(
Feb 9th, 2006)
According to a survey created by a research
consultancy group only 20% of people in the UK seem to feel that the
England's Government is doing enough to ensure the proper regulation of
online gaming. This news comes ahead of the 2005 Gambling Act which will
be enforced from the beginning of 2007. This act will, for the first
time, allow internet casinos to base themselves in the UK.
Another key finding of the survey related to
underage gambling. As part of a casino’s legal responsibility, they must
do everything possible to ensure that under-18s cannot access their
services. However, according to this survey many gambling sites, sports
betting sites in particular, are not doing enough to combat underage
gambling practices.
Another interesting factor of this survey
indicated that 35% of people surveyed felt that a UK based online casino
operator would be more reliable than those based abroad, however 50%
said that they did not even know how to use online casinos and had
therefore never used such online services.
