UK Government toughens laws against online casinos’ advertisements (Nov. 11, 2005)

The British Government is about to enforce laws put into place, against a number of recommended online casinos, that have been promoting and advertising all over England in a direct violation of the British law. At present, Internet casino companies advertise their sites and games on taxis, the London Underground and in other public places.

Unlike traditional British best online casinos that are forbidden to advertise, offshore betting companies are allowed to do so, as they are located outside the jurisdiction of UK law. Nevertheless, current state laws disallow them to advertise any encouragements to gamble, such as registration bonuses and potential jackpots.

Tessa Jowell, the UK culture secretary, was reported as saying that, since many new online casinos ignore the aforementioned restriction, and continue publishing the forbidden advertisements, she will push for the prosecution of these law-breakers. Joining forces with the state Gambling Commission, Jowell intends to punish whoever knowingly violates the law.

Good Luck
