A woman wins $8.2 million at the progressive slots

Katherine Salvant won $8.2 million playing
Wheel of Fortune quarter progressive slots Sunday at the Isle of Capri.
She had put about $200 in the fourth machine from the south end of the
row of
progressive slots when she hit the jackpot at about 12:22 p.m.
"I tell my kids I'm doing them a favor," she joked. "When we kick the
bucket, they won't have to worry about fighting over an inheritance. I
just killed that plan."
She quickly called her four children to tell them the great news of her
winnings.
Katherine was spending the weekend at another casino resort, but came to
gamble at the Isle at the request of her husband, James. He wanted her
to earn enough points to receive comps for a free hotel room at the Isle
because it offers wireless Internet access. They got the room.
The couple said they had no plans to change their lifestyle and will
just keep on enjoying retirement. They said they might buy another
vehicle besides their 1994 Chevrolet Caprice station wagon.
Katherine , who first start6ed gambling here around 1960 at the old
Broadwater Hotel where her uncle was a dealer, said she will continue
coming to the Coast to play the slots.
The $8.2 million is a big jackpot, but still not as grand as the $13.8
million that was won in 2003 at the Isle while playing another quarter
progressive slots machine.
