Costa Rica could Change Online Casino Casino Gambling Laws
September 03 2009
According to Costa Rica’s leading newspaper, politicians in that Latin American nation are looking into instating a new law that would regulate and tax
online casino gambling operations. The proposed regulation will be a significant development, given Costa Rica’s current position as one of only several countries that allow the online Casino Gambling businesses to operate without taxes.
Costa Rica's finance minister is understanding the reality that if it taxes the numerous online casino gambling operations based in the country, it could be raking in a significant amount of revenue. Some estimates revenue to be as high as $100 million annually.
The taxation of these gambling operation could be complicated due to the large local job creation in the online gambling industry, and those job placements could be at risk if the nation were to cut a chunk of the operator's revenue. In that case, the country could see those online Casino Gambling operations leaving for tax safe havens, and risk the loss of significant segment of its local economy.
